Senate Democrats continue to press for a temporary extension of 16 expiring provisions of the Patriot Act, but Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., so far is refusing to budge from his demand for an “up or down” vote on a rewrite of the law.

…Frist [is] adamant, for now. “The Patriot Act right now needs to be voted on, up or down vote, on the floor of the United States Senate,” he said.
